Trying to diagnose why computer has massively lost fps (over 80% loss) in games. I want to start with the two oldest components.

Wondering if I could get some opinions on what the best mid to high end range psu and memory (16gb) I can get at the moment. Money is not a real issue, however I don't want to throw a lot of money at something unnecessary. Donations available if I purchase said suggestion.

Current build is

R3.0 Extreme3 gigabyte mobo
Gtx980Ti
Fx8350

Be nice if the PSU could power a lot of extras that could be added, including watercooling and many more fans. Whole computer is running extremely hot. Under load gpu and cpu are at 85 degrees C. Ouch! But all of the fans are running slow that is why I'm suspecting psu.

Thanks!

Sounds like you either need to dust it out, Get a better case, Or add more fans. A PSU upgrade isnt going to magically lower your insane temps.

I know, all of the fans in the case are going slow though, when it used to sound like a jet turbine. So a new psu may in a sense magically fix it =)

are you using a stock cooler for that 8350 or evo 212?
ur throttling cuz ur cpu is hot

I'm using the CM Hyper T4 Rifle bearing. The cpu may very well be throttling explaining the massive stutters when trying to load large areas, however I don't think it explains low idle fps, even on low settings. =/

Edit, Just realized it does point away from the psu and the gpu for the fact that my idle fps in game on low settings is pretty much the same as on epic settings ~15fps. I don't know..

1. clean out the dust in ur build
2. cable management for good airflow, make sure the fans are also correctly installed intake/exhaust etc.
3. set the fans to higher speed
4. take off CM t4, remove old thermal paste, apply new, reinstall the cooler

no need to buy a psu, unless it's a shitty one

Maybe you should reapply thermal paste, max cup temp is 61, max socket temp is 70 for that cpu. Like Secksii said, your cpu is throttling like crazy.

E/ cpu temp, not cup temp lol. Are you overclocking?

I'll try this, however if I can still get suggestions on Memory/PSU in case this doesn't work, would be appreciated.

85C is way past the maximum recommended temps for the FX - 8350.

/e What word begins with an F and ends with uck? Firetruck. ^^
