So for christmas I would like to build a computer for my nephew to play POE with me. I am looking to spend like $400 or so. I have windows, keyboad, mouse. A 640hx power supply, and case left from one of my older builds. So I need mobo, processor, gpu, ram, hd.

Looking to keep it around 400$ as it is only for path of exile looking to play it on mid settings without any hiccups. POE doesn't need a super strong build. I will eventually be getting a ssd also, but probably down the road. I am 100% fine with sourcing some used parts if I have to.

exactly what I need for now. Thanks a bunch man I can save 20$ if I get the processor at micro center also hmmm. May see if any are on my drive back from NJ to FL

The only change I may make, is getting a SSD right off the bat. Are they more stable now? I bought one when they first came out for my build and it crashes quite often which is why I thought a normal hd would be best for his build. but if they are stable now a 250gb or so ssd would be a better choice as it is strictly a gaming rig for poe. Downloading of movies and such is done on my desktop or one of my laptops.

Just be an awesome uncle, spend a tiny bit more and get him this, cause Xmas. It's still under 500$

/Otherwise, get what dream along posted but get the GTX 950 in my build. It's like 15 bucks more and it will beat a 750 TI by a good amount. Look it up.
An overclocked g3258 will play anything pretty good when overclocked really, but I'd probably settle at the least for a FX6300 and overclock the shit out of it. But once you spend the money on a Hyper 212 Evo and a decent motherboard that can hit and hold 4.5ghz you might as well use a i5 4460.
/Or buy second hand from say EVGA marketplace, you could get a haswell i5 with a mobo to go with it and a 960 for probably the same price, don't be scared of "lightly" used PC parts.

this tbh... i have a laptop kind of comparable to the first build listed (exept that its a first gen i7, not a dual core, but it got a low end gpu too etc) and i cant say that it run poe super well ^^

i mean unless your nephew is fine playing with minimum graphic and only playing solo and non 'laggy' builds he might run into bad frame rates with the cheapest build

If he's only going to play PoE then no reason to get a 1TB hard drive and no SSD.

SSD is great for PoE because it has long loading.

that's why he said no need for a 1tb hd, at the cost of having no ssd.

Misread it.

But ya, if it is just for PoE you don't really need a HD, SSD would be really help because the loading sucks. Can always add a HD later if he needs more storage.
