Your first build wasnt half bad honestly. The 2nd build that was posted not so sure about. The R9 390 has shown some better characteristics than the GTX 970 as does the R9 380 vs the GTX 960.

I would say build the computer based on what you play. Also wait a little longer and you may just see the GTX 960 Ti which would be the mid range between them with 3GB Vram.

But if your going for now, maybe save a few more dollars and just get the R9 390. But you will def want at minimum the 8350 processor.

if you can live without an SSD for now, you'll get more video card performance.. and yeah canada sucks for pricing good lord lol.

evga b2 bronze 850w psu at $90 after mir is a sick deal for the quality of the psu & u won't have to upgrade for a very long time.
much better than the gold 750 nex

strix is a $1 more expensive than 390, up 2 u which u wanna get tho personally 390 would be the way to go

Thanks for the inputs guys! I might change from NZXT Phantom to Fractal Design Define R4 since they're both 99.99 on NCIX and the Fractal Design has superior reviews.
I was told to build this for $1K by my aunt... So yeah, the budget is pretty tight.
I might drop the SSD and see if I can get an R9 390.

Yes but that 850w bronze psu will have about ~80w that's going to be useless since its efficiency is lower.

but we talkin abt superflower oem's
it tested like silver rather than bronze.

FSP isnt anywhere close to superflower quality.

getting like ~800w > less than 700w from fsp
ur choice, ur money. Also assurance to go sli./cross in future
there's a reason why superflower psu's are $$$$$$$$$ compared to fsp models.

i suggest you get that case for $50, it's a damnnn steal for the quality and the price for it. Since canada cases are fucking OP'd as fuck like decent ones are generally 70+bux
