I bin looking to upgrade my computer from this:
(sorry i don't know much about building computers so idk what other info you need to know about my comp to get a better understanding of what i actually need to upgrade)

To what my friend suggest i get:
http://www.dell.com/ca/p/alienware-x51-r3/pd?oc=dax51r3_bt_h003e&id=3a1de095-648a-4402-97b1-86b50d665f9f&c=ca&l=en&s=dhs&cs=cadhs1#overrides=dax51r3_bt_h003e:12~ALWMSE;29~PRSN4;33~AD4;1014~LSIA36M

Would i be better off just getting the alienware tower or could i build a comp for the same price or less then the cost of the pre built.
Any input helps thanks

Here...just fill out this info, and one of our builders will make a few builds for you.

Budget:
More specific use (what games, what programs):
Planned time until purchase:
Do you need an Operating System?:
Do you have any specific preferred components?:
Do you need a sound or wireless card?:
Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?:
Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?:
Zip code/location? (Shipping costs):

It's even stickied in this forum.

You won't need a sound card unless you're an audiophile, one is included on the motherboard.
You won't be needing an i7 based on your uses.

$1,200 USD is roughly $917 USD

I'll build something shortly ;)

This is true, however, if you get an optical drive, you won't have to post about how to make a bootable USB stick.

Yes, optical drives are on the way out. Personally, I would never be w/o one, and I already know how to make bootable Windows USB sticks. ;)
