Do you need a case or can I just keep my motherboard on the motherboard box forever? I'm getting a new motherboard and CPU from a friend and the case I have is completely shit and I don't even want to bother taking out the old motherboard since I don't even know how to mount the new one. I don't have animals so they can't jump on it or get hair into it if I had no case.

Anything I should know about would be great as I've never done this obviously. Like risks and other general info.

It's a dell case and that thing is so terrible and I don't want to use it.

edit: I assume I can use my old HDD with windows on it and just install a new copy?

Yeah you can install a new copy of windows on your old hdd and it'll erase all your previous stuff.

I'd probably get like a 40$ case at least if i were you though, so many potential hazards just running it raw like that and it'll collect dust and shit

Any chance of a photo? Sounds cool.
