If I was building a PC to perform in an environment that has small amounts of olive oil suspended in the air that was damaging computer fans, could I get a case to build a better computer in?

This is in a fluids laboratory.

Thanks!

Full passive water cooling loop wouldn't need fans

Or you could go with fans with sealed bearings

May think about this. Thoughts on the olive oil permiating any other components? Would use SSD obviously not HD, but what about the GPU fans? May not be in the budget to water cool GPU. If a dvd drive was needed that may get fucked too.

If you have a full passive loop you can effectively seal the rest of the case, there will just be a sealed pump somewhere and a large radiator outside the case, no moving parts

You may find issues with mechanical hard drives, other components shouldn't be effected as long as the buildup isn't too great, you can also seal things with wax if need be

What you're looking for is HEPA filters, or the like. You can purchase various different ones, for any environment.

/e As for the case itself, it may be easier just to have a sheet metal shop, make you one. I would think a fluids lab could afford that. :)

/eee The other solution is rather simpler. Just put the comp in a room that doesn't have "small amounts of olive oil suspended in the air".

Build the PC in a completely sealed dome case in which there is ventiliation into the floor/another room that does not have this olive oil.

Or just build any old PC and put it in a nicely made, slightly larger plywood box, with HEPA filters.

Just found this...it already uses HEPA filters...

/e But I still think the easiest solution is just go to a local plastics fabrication store, and have them make an acrylic enclosure the size you desire, and equip it with HEPA filters.

you the man. I love the SilverStone solution. The thing is this is not for me, if it was for me I would do some custom job but I have to be able to present a viable solution.

The only solutions I was able to find were similar to this: http://www.dustshield.com/
