I've been playing around with pc parts and doing some research (first build) and I'm not so sure how I'm doing so I would like to get some suggested builds.

Budget: Max 1500
More specific use (what games, what programs): Mostly games and using client communication programs
Planned time until purchase: 5-7 Days
Do you need an Operating System?: No
Do you have any specific preferred components?: Intel/Nvidia
Do you need a sound or wireless card?: Yes
Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?: Stock
Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?: Yes
Zip code/location? (Shipping costs): 92705

What are your preferences in case style? (lights, flashy, dull, etc) dull/plain
Are you planning to use multiple monitors? No, occasionally hook my tv up for movies
Are you looking for upgrade-ability? For the future, probably just graphic cards
Do you have any preferred brands? No
Can you reuse any components from an older build? No
Is there anything else you think we should know? I've always used Intel and Nvidia so I'd prefer to stay in that zone

The R9 390 outperforms the GTX 970, has more VRAM, and costs less. The performance difference isn't that big right now, but you might notice something in the future as more games come out. If you really want an Nvidia card, you can get the 970 but its about $45 more. The only drawback to the AMD card is the driver support. It sometimes takes AMD awhile to roll out a new driver.

Thanks! I'll definitely look in the R9 vs the 970, I'm a recreational gamer so the $45 may be useful to me

I'm definitely open to other builds as well, as I'm going to start making my purchases towards this weekend

Here's what I came up with
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/MVrsGX

The case is a silent case, so going with a cheap aftermarket cooler and some quiet fans will keep you cool and quiet, you can buy these fans for some extras at a cheap price:

Or go with the same series of fans that come installed in the case (comes with 3, has room for 7 total, plus 2 more on the heatsink (it comes with fans but they are louder)
