Long story short....I want to build my GF a nice gaming PC and don't want to spend the time researching all the appropriate info to make sure I get one that performs optimally.

Budget set at around $1,600

Don't need SLI (Have 2 29" high quality monitors and no room for a third)

Do need a nice SSD (probably like 240GB) as well as a TB HDD.

can come already configured or disassembled...doesn't matter.

Oh, and she will be using it for work as well so she will be doing some statistical programming IE MatLab...

For shipping purposes. You do have the option to buy from a store if it's better accessible.

Working on a build real quick.

Here's a build to start: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/gnMYD3

You have some money left. Let me know if you want to allocate more into the build.

I think it's sad I genuinely never thought of that -_-

What has the internet done to me lol

As far as the build goes, it looks pretty good. I am curious what the difference between an i5 and an i7 processor is though. I see that this one can be overclocked which is good because I have experience doing that in the past so I will probably do it for her as well.

Hah. I'm starting to buy more on the internet. On the same boat as you, just on the opposite side.

An i7 is basically an i5 + hyperthreading. Right now, most games don't utilize this technology. Battlefield 4 is an exception. This i5 can be overclocked. The unlocked core is shown with the K suffix. There is an H100i GTX to cool the cpu, as well.

What is a H100i GTX? Just a cooling device connected directly to the CPU?

yea its gonna cool your cpu, instead of the stock air fan that comes with your processor.
its a closed loop, meaning its water but you wont see/touch it.
