Hello JSP,

Looking to build a new desktop PC and would appreciate some help/guidance and recommendations.

Budget – CAD 1000-1500

Specific use – Gaming, games like Diablo II, Diablo III, SC2, new games that could be released within the next 2-3 years.
(I know these have low requirements but I want to be capable to handle better games).

Planned time of purchase - Within the next week

Do you need an OS – Yes, prefer Windows 10

Do you have any specific preferred components – i7 4th Gen Processor, USD 3.0 ports, Bluetooth connectivity if possible and not too expensive and a SSD is a MUST. Regular HDD as well for storage.

Do you need a sound or wireless card – I believe the motherboard will have a sound card integrated? Don’t need anything else other than that.

Do you want stock cooling or over clocking – Stock as I have no knowledge if over clocking.

What I want the most is speed, I hate when my computer is slow.

Would prefer to stay near 1000 instead of using the full budget but I wouldn’t mind too much going for the full budget.

Thanks,
- Joby

Can i talk you out of an I7?

It is not any faster than an i5. The difference lies in its hyperthreading, which virtualizes 4 more cores. This is only relevant for cpu heavy tasks that a professional would use such as video encoding/editing.
Its also half of your budget, so you'd be spending the extra and getting no additional performance.

Let me know what you think and we can move from there.

Then this is what I threw together.

You can change the case to whatever you think looks good, as long as it fits the 390, it is a large card.

Edit: if you have any questions or concerns, bring them up and I can explain any of my decisions.
