Upgrade PSU first and foremost.
Buy a Hyper 212 Evo and OC that i7 950 and keep it a couple more years..maybe upgrade when AMD Zen releaseso if it's good.

The biggest difference in games would be the GPU obviously but if it's doing what you need then don't worry about it.

What's your monitor, keyboard and mouse?

Or
Buy a new mobo, 6600k, ddr4 and new PSU but youre probably looking around 600

So you're saying to just get the fan and overclock, then maybe look at a new GPU? DayZ is really the only game giving me issues and I believe that's because it's very CPU intensive.
I've just bought RAM recently and would really like to avoid getting new RAM again.

Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma
Standard keyboard. Plan on getting a mechanical later, maybe Corsair K70

Thats a DDR4 board. You would need to buy new RAM. You can get the Z170-P D3 and use your old RAM though.

Thanks I had just edited that after realizing. Mobo looks good, what do you think of everything else?
