Thinking of a cheap processor upgrade. Currently running the 6300 along with the GTX 780. My processor is normally at maximum load so I believe it's starting to bottle neck.

Would the 8350 make a difference?

well its better so yes, will it make a huge diff probably not.
Better off over clocking your current chip.

I doubt this is going to fix things, unless the apps/programs you use can utilize the extra cores.

Mainly playing Guild wars 2, and CS:GO

The only time I experience heavy GPU load is in Guild wars 2. Not unbearable but 10 FPS mmore would be ideal, or atleast not running my CPU at 70-80+%

the additional cores does not help with gaming so oc'ing the 6300 is your better option.
what cpu cooler do you have? and whats your motherboard and psu?

Interesting. I've never over clocked before, any recommendations? For example whats the highest my temperature should go when OCing? I'd be using Speccy to monitor temps.

60 is best but exceeding 65 is a no no imo.
You should easily get 4.2- 4.5 out of the cpu with a decent cooler provided your mobo/psu can handle it.
I can help you with over clocking its not that hard but does take time. This would literally put you on par with that other cpu if not surpass it.

I idle my CPU at 28-32C GPU idles at 38Cish

I have a decent after market Zalman Heatsink, but yeah I'd definitely be interesting in learning the OC'ing thing. I'm computer smart that's just a field I haven't messed around in yet. :)

/edit When Im gaming it's probably @ 50ish

I just ordered brand new fans to fill every slot in my giant ass case. So performance on temperatures should be even better in a week or so. One of my box fans is starting to die out on me.
