I'm looking forward to overclock my future cpu (i5 4690k) @about 4.2ghz.

What board should I use for this? Atm I'm looking at the ASRock Z97 Anniversary version

<<<< or >>>>

Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3 ATX LGA1150

I'm on a pretty tight budget, so yeah: should I invest in a better mainboard or will those 2 will be enough to oc @ about 4.2ghz?

Any of the ASUS ROG boards will hit it easy or you could go with the z97x Gaming 7 by Gigabyte and they both hold a OC of 4.6 usually...

Wasn't able to push mine past 4.5 stable really so that's prolly gonna be your max

Your current post will hit 4.2 easily tho.. that's very easy to reach

The voltage controller is on the 4690k, so the mobo doesnt really matter all that much for ocing

I'm running 4.5Ghz on my G3258 with an Msi z97 gaming 3. I'm sure you could do the same with the i5. I'm even able to get a stable 4.7
