i'm gonna be changing some stuff so i was wondering if it would affect anything

My ram ill be keeping which is CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
and the mobo i want to use ASUS Z97-E/USB3.1 LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel

My old cpu ntel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge Quad-Core 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo)
wanting to use Intel Core i7-4790K Devil’s Canyon Quad-Core 4.0GHz

Old gpu MSI N660TI PE 2GD5 G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB
New gpu GIGABYTE GV-N970WF3OC-4GD GeForce GTX 970 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP

Old psu CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE
New psu CORSAIR RM Series RM650 650W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified

just curious if anything would be affected when i do buy this ill be getting a new hard drive and getting a ssd along with windows 8.1

May as well as get 6700k instead of 4790k. Its only a tad bit more expensive. You would have to buy new RAM and a different motherboard though.

Yes. The 6700k uses a different CPU socket than the 4790k. It also has a different memory controller and supports DDR4 RAM instead of DDR3 (although DDR3L RAM is supported but the motherboards don't have the slots for them). Get a 6700k and a Z170 board with DDR4 RAM. It should cost maybe $100 more than the previous gen.
