Sry just posted on your old thread...

Would do this or go AMD 6 or 8 core.

you wont need an aftermarket cooler with a processor that wont overclock
you also only need 1 ssd. if you want more storage grab a 1tb hard drive of some kind now or later.
Also knocked ram down to 8, since you will not need more than that. Changed PSU to a better quality one that is modular.

Any of the motherboards will work, really. There's just no point in getting a Z board when the processor has a locked multiplier.
Hell, you could save more by getting H87 or B85 if you wanted to. Although you run the slight risk of getting a board with an outdated BIOS that would need to be flashed before you can use the CPU you chose.

ok gotcha, but if i buy the Z97 it should be good for a long while and i wont need to worry about it if i want to upgrade anything? im probably just going to stick with it

or just go with a different H97.. need to pick which one

You can upgrade anything you want with the H97 board as well. The only thing you lose by going with an H instead of Z is the capability to use more than one GPU and the lack of overclocking ability. Although, many H series boards can overclock CPU's as well, they just aren't designed for it.

Future processors (Skylake and beyond) are going to use different sockets anyway. The only way you can "upgrade" your cpu later with the Z series board is by buying the unlocked processor for that socket. By the time you need to upgrade, it'll be time for a completely new build anyway. The 4460 should last a good few years by itself anyway unless something drastic happens with CPU technology.

Any reason you're getting a locked CPU?

Doesn't matter if you dont want to OC now, you could in several years when your CPU is old and relatively slow to get an extra year of performance out of it.
