Do you need an Operating System?: yes, unless i can take the hard drives out of this computer and it will boot fine with the new mobo etc then no.
Do you have any specific preferred components?: ATX motherboard, i have a cooler master case right now but i prefer atx anyway for the mobo =] the rest idk cuz i really dotn know about cpus.. 8 GB ram of course
