I ask because I plan on upgrading my 7850 to the 980ti. Haven't decided on a psu upgrade yet.

What's your current psu? You won't even need to upgrade psu if you got a quality one

Go for 4.5+ on the 2500k & you'll be fine.

If you get into 1440p or 120hz+ monitors, You'll need a better cpu though.

Current psu is roswell hive 500w. I don't trust it enough for a 980ti and a 500 mhz on the cpu

you mean 550w,
it would still be okay, since it's a quality psu and you didnt OC the cpu high
however if u still feel like u wanna upgrade, get evga's b2/g2 or gs series imo.

I'm pushing a 120w TDP Xeon 3ghz @ 4.7ghz with two heavily overclocked and bios modified 5850's (5870 bios mod) with DDR2 1400 ram on a 500w Corsair PSU.

I'm sure you'd be fine pushing a 980ti @ stock with a decent overclock on your CPU with a 550w.
