Need a new laptop for med school. Preferably something that's portable and will last me all 4+ years. Any tips? I'm computer retarded.

Budget is 1,000 tops; something around 600-700 is preferable though.



I haven't been too happy with the laptops my brother and I have bought that past couple of years.

Main priority is portability/lasting power (for 4+years)

second is durability



how do i look for good deals. what should i look for. what makes computer A better than computer B. What are the recommended stats of a modern day laptop. If anyone knows, or has a good reference site, lemme know.
