So I have always been a PC guy built my last 5+ rigs thanks to help from this forum. However, the company I work for is all Apple and ive had to goto an imac and macbook for work stuff and I actually like them alot for that...but...

My problem is that I find myself wanting to WORK on mythree 23'/23'/23' monitors run by my home gaming PC as the extra monitor space of the three 23' monitors is much better than my 27' imac next to my 17' macbook (yes i use them together biz i am in 2+ monitors is pretty essential)

So, I want to go for 3x27' mac monitors what is the best way to do this cost efficiency wise? I'd prefer to stick with all Apple products but will consider the idea if "hackima" or whater its called, as i am very comfortable with building computers so long as I don't have to solder anything. I know the easy solution might be a powermac with ability to goto 3 monitors but if anyone has some cost effective or creative ideas i'll gladly pay fg before I need to goto the apple store a spend a fortune!

edit: all i will do with this comp is email, excel, word, light adobe design suite (basically just opening files, maybe doing slight modifications), lots of photography and video, but little to no editing. I do play a video game Eve eveonline.com and I'd like to be able to load one client to each monitor.

Thank you in advance for your help I know to make fg rain when ppl post good suggestions need your advice-yo!

Cheers
lito

Are apple monitors a must??

If you're looking at something with a good display and good colors then my recommendations are for DELL.

And what is your viewing distance? 24 is plenty big for work imo unless you have bad eye sight like me :)

Should be able to run 2x monitors out of the iMac using the Thunderbolt ports. Just use mini DisplayPort-to-DVI or -to-HDMI adapters, then connect to whatever monitors you get.

If you're running on the MacBook, you can use the iMac as a second display for it by running it in Target Display mode. Then hook up another monitor to the MacBook using the same connection (Thunderbolt).
