We're snobs here. He can build it himself for cheaper.
If he's clueless though and refusing to learn, I wouldn't say its a bad deal. As it seems to be the typical rate at which one gets ripped off when buying something prebuilt.

The i7 isn't more useful than an i5 for gaming, so he's over spending there.
The power supply is bad [it has low quality parts and is more prone to failure/damaging other components, not that it wont work], get the evga super nova.

Overall we could put something as powerful as this for about 1200 dollars or so.

Get ncix or someone else to build it, they charge 50 but he's wasting 50 instead of hundreds
