Hi. Am going to build a desktop and I'm confused with the difference in performance between g3258, i3 and i5

Is g3258 ample enough for gaming? Someone said its better than i3 in terms of performance for gaming?

And lastly is it really worth getting an i5

thanks

G2358 is more than ample for gaming.. with its price being so low it would be silly to not get it if you are on a budget... it all depends on your budget in the end

this means nothing
dual core gaming isn't the way to go
either get a real i5 or a cpu from amd

G3258 - Dual Core
I3 - Dual core with Hyper threading, So it acts like a quad core. Video games cannot use hyperthreading though, so for all gaming purposes, it is just a very overpriced dual core.
I5 - Quad Core

I have a G3258 Gaming rig with an R9 270 and 4gb of ram. atm and it runs mostly at ultra/60fps if the game is low enough requirement. Games such as Killing Floor 2 or Shadow of mordor [low texture for vram requirement]

Prolly only one of the only ones here that has ran the G3528

I had mine OC'd to 4.2 and was able to play pretty much any game out there.

Games like battlefield will destroy this CPU.

Anything else plays fine.

I5 would be your best processor choice if you play those triple A game titles.
