i'm using an HP Pavilion P6310y. iT HAD 1TB of memory and 6 gb of Ram through 3 2gb ssdr3's with an aftermarket NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX550Ti. I went to work for a couple of weeks and when I came back I had the blue screen of death.

I purchased a Sandisc Ultra 2 SSD and Windows 7 64 bit as I was told that I would need a new OS because I was going with a different size Drive with my SSD than the original Mechanical Drive.

I attempted to play in my BIOS prior to uploading the new SSD. I could not. I could not find the SSD when I got it and plugged it in. With a little research on the internet it appeared to me that my MOBO was bad. I purchased a ASROCK 960GC-GS-FX Mother Board. It only had two SSDR 3 ports so I swapped out two of my 2gb ram (Things) for one 4 gb. I installed the new MOBO, reconnected all of the cables, fans, and swapped my processor over.

Now when I plug my power cord into the back of the PSU the LED light flashes. When I removed the power cord from the PSU to the mother board it lights back up solid. I removed every cable that the PSU connected to from the components and left it only connected to the MOBO power in. The light still flashed green when connected. I connected every component separately to see which individual one could be failing. The only time it blinks is when i connect the PSU main power to the MOBO.

Is it possible that the old processor is bad and causing this error? I do not think it can be the PSU. It appears to either be a fault somewhere in the wiring or something on the MOBO causing the failure.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. I have bitten off more than I can chew. I am looking for some options prior to Monday where i will take it to a store and have them attempt to repair it for me. I am at $400.00 spent so far. 200 on the SSD, 100 on win 7, and 100 on the MOBO and the 4GB ram swap out. I could have probably bought a new cpu with probably better specs and have less headache, but I wanted to give this a go.

Thanks in advance.

I had a similar incident and it sounds like its your motherboard is faulty.

My motherboard was replaced and everything was fine thereafter.

However, try taking out your last 2gb of ram, and your aftermarket videocard just to make sure.

Is it a common thing to have a brand new mother board out of the package fail?

I'll give the video card a yank.

Thanks

Removed the Card and the ram to no avail brother.

Had a brand new motherboard fail on one of my custom builts, was frustrating because I didn't believe it could be bad because brand new. Swapped out and worked perfect.
