So I am trying to get the sims 3 working for my girlfriend but the video does not run very well.

Naturally I assumed it was my video card but id like some input..

here are my specs:
I did just downgrade from 16 to 8gb ram

any suggestions (including economical part upgrades) are appreciated. I am aware that there is a mobo upgrade that will double the speed of my hdd iirc, it was about 100 bucks.
I have a small budget due to summer classes coming up and an u/f cost of 500 dollars worth of books..

Well for one thing your vid card is NOT listed as compatible, but I have no idea if it's just an incomplete list or not...

NO. I would suggest like a GTX 770 or an AMD R9 270 or 280. These cards are far above the system req's for Sims 3.

But keep in mind it could just be the game, or the game servers or even you internet connection, as well. Check out the Sims 3 forums and see what problems others are having and how they solved them.

Your vid card came out after those lists were made, so not being on the list may mean nothing, and you current card may be more than adequate.

With any game it's always best to check the game's forums first.

What is your budget?
Are you interested in mail in rebates for your budget?

Just a few ideas, from least expensive [and least powerful] to most expensive [and most powerful]
These are all lower budget cards but provide good value for the money. when you start looking at less than 100 dollar cards, you get worse performance for your money.
