I'm going to build my own computer case. The reason being I cant stand the noise anymore. I currently have a Nzxt phantom and its way to noisy and I dont want this thing on my desk anymore even tho it looks nice.
What I want to do is integrate the hardware system into my desk. I want to put all the computer components into the button drawer of the desk.

Here is a picture series of my current setup as well as the drawer:

Now the installation of the components isn't an issue. I got a friend who will help me out there. But what's problematic is the airflow. Don't get me wrong. I know that I will need to modify the drawer to allow for fresh air to enter and pass.
Anyways I have watched several youtube tutorials and read a bunch of articles on reddit and on other forums about airflow in general and which parts to cool and I came to the conclusion that non of the information provided is suitable enough for my attempt on the matter because they all work with tower shaped prebuild cases and my drawer is flat.
So far I know that I need a straight line of airflow within a line of sight going from intake to outtake fan. The question is "are 2 fans enough"? I want to reduce the noise and remove my PC from my desk and I want to do it right.

I will update this thread with my current progress of any sort.
Guys if you have any tips on this special design that I'm currently working on I would really appreciate it.

I know that its a nice setup and I know that its unnecessary so please no comments on that to keep the thread on track.
Thanks!

PC is too loud -> Builds a drawer case

Weird turn of events there lol

Fan controller would obviously be the easiest route.

Make sure to post pics, if you pull it off it will be a cool mod.

You might need to reinforce the drawer or casing it's in. I did something similar once with an older price of furniture and the vibration from the power supply and cooling fans caused wood to rattle. Wood glue and nylon spacers work wonders here.

Two fans will probably do the job, just get the biggest fans you can fit in that drawer.

I would have dropped the SOB in oil, would have kept it quiet.

Also make sure to ground everything properly, nn noise from bad grounding causing issues.

You'll want very large fans, aka 200mm, for low noise and still having great air flow...like 110 cfm.
As for direction, have the vid card, PSU and exhaust fan all exhausting from the back of the drawer, have the intake (dust filtered ofc) on the front of the drawer.

Also add in rubber stand-offs to minimize vibration. Especially if you're adding in a HDD. HDD makes a shitload of noise if you let the case carry it.

Thanks guys for your comments
Okay so I thought Ill give you guys an update on the project:

So far I have bought some left over quieting cork insulation from a local private seller. (5m² 2mm strengh for 18€ lol)
I plan on insulating all the surrounding areas inside the desk with this as well as the inside of the case it self.
Tomorrow I will head over to the local craft man store and have them shorten the drawer case slightly in height so I can add a lid to the drawer and seal it.
I need to reduce the height to be able to add insulation to the wooden slide inside the desk to get rid of vibrations.
I ordered 2x Noctua NF-A14 as in and outtake fans.

I will head back to you guys with photos of the progress.
A friend of mine has a sound meter. I might do a before after comparison in case I get a hold of him.
