Hey everyone, been saving up some cash to slowly pump into my computer and upgrade.

Currently the only thing I am keeping is my DVD Drive, Hard Drives and 280x (for now, this is the last thing in need of an upgrade though)

Right now I'm currently looking at picking up the following parts. I do have one question though, for gaming, would it be wiser to skip an i7 for now and get an i5? I was reading a few posts around the internet about people saying that the i5 4690k is plenty for any game. Any thoughts? I was going to get the i7 4790K but if I the i5 4690K will perform similarly in games I don't really see the justification in spending 100 more on an almost unnoticeable difference. Especially when I can always upgrade later on down the road if the 4690K

Here's the CPU's I'm debating between:

or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117369

Both are LGA 1150 sockets so they will fit my current choice for Motherboard, looks like its got some nice features while also not breaking the bank:

I tried to find the RAM with the lease CAS Latency and lowest timings (I believe I read here a while back this is how fast the RAM is):

As for the Case, I've had the older Rosewill Challenger which seems like the predecessor to this case and it was a great case. Any around this price or lower that you guys would recommend that come with as many fan options?:

I am having a hard time finding a PSU though. Not sure why but I keep reading bad reviews on any of the gold Corsair 1k PSUs that are not outrageously priced. I don't remember corsair ever having these kind of issues when I got mine for my old computer and another one for my current, nor have I ever had issues with mine. Anyone want to recommend me a solid PSU that's not going to be as much as my CPU?

Also if I do end up getting the i5 I'm sure it will be pretty beneficial to OC it, so are there any specific coolers and thermal paste I should look into? Or really any thermal paste and any decent cooler?

This will be purchased in chunks so recommending me combos right now isn't really going to work though I can always keep my eyes open for if they are still around when I do buy the parts (less than a month in total).

Thanks in advance for the help and recommendations.

if you're only planning on gaming, then i5 is the way to go.
If you plan to stream, render/edit a lot of videos etc. i7 would help though.
Asus 97A is a great mobo too, here's another good mobo.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128723&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

RAM, u'd want low CAS, and higher timings. 16gb is overkill, especially just for gaming. 8gb is more than enough if you wanna save $$$.
ill assume ur only gonna purchase from newegg, so here's the same ram with better timings for cheaper
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231617&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

though i'd suggest you get this, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233536&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

case is mostly personal preference, as long as it has great airflow, quality and cable management. I'd recommend Corsair,Fractal, Bitfenix, NZXT cases.

The PSU to purchase is EVGA g2 750 or 850W. Make sure it's G2 model, and not G1, cos g2 is made by superflower which are GG psu makers, comes with 10yr warranty with EVGA's gfg support they're widely known for.

Purchase evo 212 cooler, it's better than stock anyways, and the thermal compound is included.

Awesome. Thanks for the Reply. I'l l check these out in a sec here, at work so I'm a little occupied. But it sounds like I'll be able to get this computer where I'm wanting it sooner that I thought.

Also yiu wouldn't happen to know of a good wireless card that's pretty low in cost would you? Mine right now is the small PCI slot (drawing a blank on the proper name right now) and it'd also kind of meh at picking up signal. I'd prefer one I would be able to drop into the Asus z97 A without being in the way of the graphics cards (both slots being unobstructed would be preferable as I plan on dual carding eventually). The small pci slot on the Asus board is located above and below the graphics slot so I know mine would fit in there fine now but it's just not very good.

Thanks

Not trying to sound like an ass, but do you really think waiting for skylake to drop would be beneficial if I'm just gaming. Especially when i5s can run the games out right now just fine? I am running an amd 955 right now so I'm like dying for a new cpu lol

And thanks for the wireless suggestion secksi

Would a 750 watt be enough for the new 300 series of amd cards when they come out? Just curious because by the time I'm going to upgrade my 280x,the 300 series will likely be out or about to roll out. Do you think that would be enough or should I get the 850 just to be safe.

This, unless you plan to SLI / crossfire and want to be extra safe, I'd get the 850.

I would highly recommend this case. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811854003
Short review of this case

I used the Asus Z97-A to build a few drafting computers for my last firm and I would recommend it to anyone.

I use that same Gskill trident and it is great.

I do a lot of rendering so I use the 4790k but if you are only gaming there is no need for it. (YET)

I would stick with 16gb minimum I used 8 for a long time mostly gaming and it does offer flexibility.
