My brother is looking for a simple solution to Connect some nice headphones and a clip on microphone to an xbox 360 controller

any suggestions?

the jacks are both 3.5mm and the one on the controller is 2.5mm

so i would need like a 3.5mm headphone/mic splitter into a 2.5mm male jack

When in played on my Xbox I tried this and it is more of a pain then what it's worth. All the cords everywhere suck. Unless he just wants his sound to be voice then it's not that bad but otherwise it's too much of a hassle. Especially since you won't be able to adjust the volumes without a dial which adds extra length that isn't needed. As much as it pains me to say it he may be better of going with something made for the xbox where they only have a few wires integrated to do everything because otherwise it's going to be an octopus of cables on his lap
E: he can't get the sound off his xbox by the controller which is what makes it difficult because you will then need 3.5mm jack to rca male jacks I believe and then the 3.5mm end needs to plug into a splitter which the other end of the splitter will ofc go to the headphones and the last end goes to the controller which will have a adapter plugged into that u can get of Amazon. The mic can just plug into the controller with the adapter. Then if he wants volume adjustment between voice and game sound you need to add a dial before the xbox controller and the headset for voice and then another dial I between the Xbox and headphones.

Ya that's the adapter that plugs into the controller but only gives voice and allows you to talk to them so if that's all he wants then it's not that big of a pain

i see s the controller itself does not transmit game sound ofc it wouldent make sense if it did unless there was another cord connected to the audio jacks on the system itself

so yah i see what you are saying
