Friend of mine is looking for a laptop that uses cad software, specifically SolidWorks 2015 is the most demanding.

Need a bucket of RAM as well as a decent CPU and GPU.
He needs the laptop as he is often mobile, and away from his machines when he is brainstorming.

Any tips would be welcome. Budget is tel:500-1500500-1500[/URL]. Any machines that come with a low ram base but are upgradable for less than buying an upgraded model, but still do the trick will be fine.

This will be purchased in Canada, potential vendors:

Newegg.ca
Ncix.com
Canadacomputers.com
Bestbuy
Staples

Thanks folks.
And hello to any members from back in the day.

Edit: must have windows 7 or be fully downgradable to win7x64 due to other software limitations being used.

Solidworks is mostly cpu intensive (so is autocad). if he simulates a bunch, a workbench gpu would help.
its in the higher-end of your budget, but a W series from Lenovo would be gg
