Well, I bought my new PC parts, and I wanted to buy a gigabyte gtx 970 G1 but the sales assistant told me they didn't have that GPU anymore, and he sold me a MSI Geforce GTX 970 4GD5T OC, then I asked if I could have the MSI GTX 970 gaming instead, but he told me the GEFORCE was the the newer & the slightly the best because they removed the annoying noise from the gtx 970 Gaming. He didn't seem really confident about it... What do you guys reckon?

Well, the gaming has a better core clock and a better cooling. You thing those slightly upgrade are not worth the $20 difference between the cards?

What I think is, he tried to sell u the other model, and he succeeded. Lol

The gaming version is better, out of the two.
It's bs to say the one u bought has no Coil whine, while the other does. It's really up to luck. Any of the two has the chance to have it.

thank you guys for your help. The truth is I bought the gear saturday, then I realized I had the 'classic' version of the MSI gtx and not the Gaming version I decided to go back there to swap. This is when he told me all that bullshit..
I'm definitively going back tomorrow, but I'll make a scandal for sure.

if you can't return it, or they give you a partial refund, then you might as well keep the one you got.
Cos it's still a great card, and it's only slightly clocked less.
Plus you could be lucky on that gpu you got and OC it well

Well I can confirm the Gaming version doesn't really have any noticeable weird noises.

The salesman has probably sold ones with coil whine, had them returned and drawn his own conclusions without checking anything.
