So I'm trying to add a gtx 970 to my rig (currently using a gtx 660ti) and I want to use SLI to run dual graphics cards.... I know my PSU can handle it but my mobo is only crossfire compatible?

Asus M5A88-V EVO is my mobo. Can I not run dual gfx cards with SLI on this mobo? Thanks in advance.... I'm a noob to SLI / Crossfire.

no, you cannot on that mobo. also, can only do it to same gpu family. like two 970's, since that's what you just bought.

what games and what resolution? 970 is going to max just about everything at 1080p, except for special games like the witcher 3 or metro 2033. even games like crysis 3 is gonna be easy sauce at 1080p, so you have no worries right now.

Awesome! Yeah, witcher 3, Tomb raider, far cry 4, etc. I play basically everything lol. The 660ti was just getting old and ran the new games at mid settings. Glad to hear the 970 is a drastic improvement! (and came with the witcher 3 :D)

witcher 3 is the only thing you wont max. and metro. metro punishes everything, and w3 based off of minimum requirements, etc..
