Run the msi b85m gaming mother board instead if you plan to use a pentium

and is this just for everyday use or some gaming?

You can probably switch to a Athlon x4 and put the 50-60$ of savings towards a used 5850 for like 100$.

The 5850 was a beast gaming card and still is for most titles.

I'd personally stick with the Asus H81M-K, an amazing budget board that overclocks very nicely.

I agree, you can get them as low as $30 on 3bay, for $100 I would consider other options.

gaming (Starcraft 2 and WaW) on an old monitor with some awful resolution. He will almost certainly get a 7950 before he gets a better monitor.

That's what someone else did, the budget was $250.

budget was $250. He has to use integrated graphics or a gt 610 until I upgrade my video card and then he gets my 7950 (Upgrade probably over the summer sometime).
