Have a AM3+ CPU so my motherboard options are tightly limited. Been reviewing a few mobos for an upgrade and havent really seen a difference in preformance when it comes to specs, but have noticed a difference in prices. for example. this asus one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131876 . Its going for almost $230, and has the same bus speed as the basic asus 99 series here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131874

Am i merely paying $130 more for a few more heatsinks on my mobo? or am i missing something here.

This is a good board, it will do SLI has good heat sinks etc. The other board is mainly for severe overclocking.

Totally agree not worth double the price a while ago maybe but not in a dead socket

now if i recall the only difference between the crosshair and the sabertooth is an extra pci express port? im rocking the sabertooth with a vishera 4.4. vishera's run hot and the sabertooth has good cooling features. i'd go with that

ok, its looking like the more expensive ones are more adapt to oc'ing. Any preferences between the Asus mobos, AsRock, or MSI, BIOS wise?

e/ just to clarify i currently have the 970-g43 MSI board and the bios isnt terrible, just wondering if ASUS or AsRock has a decent bios integrated

If you already have the 970-G43, why do you want a new motherboard?

1600mhz fsb and non sli compatible

e/ also it runs really hot, at idle it sits at 52 Celcius, while my cpu sits at 30 and my gfx at 34, my fan directions in my case are absolutely flawless and my case is top of the line (nzxt h440). I dont like the idea of my mobo sitting at 52 at idle.

Both the ASUS and AsRock have decent BIOS's...actually easier than MSI's.

/e ...and most important, they have GREAT manuals. :)
