i built this on pc part picker, is this a good build? thoughts? is GTX 970 significantly better? should i go AMD instead on processor? is there any way to save a few bucks? i like the fractal case but it is not required that it be that specific one. i just dont want anything that feels cheap.

You're right by MC, so no reason not to abuse use the combo for an i7.

Of course, you don't need an i7, so you can switch it for an i5, and go with w/e cooler you want.
