So my girlfriend decided to place a cup of water on top of my computer. She put it on the fan. The cup leaked through and im pretty sure it got on the motherboard because now i cant turn it on.

I am not 100% sure it is the motherboard... but i dont know how to find out for sure.

Anyone have experience with this situation? Should i replace the motherboard or do i need to replace the computer.

It is a gaming PC and i built it. Actually used help from here to do so.

Thanks

Since last night. I unplugged everything and just left there. The computer is still full intact though. I was sure if i should have taken the whole thing apart.

let it dry for 2-3 days... then try.. if it still doesn't turn on... start testing it piece by piece... take out the GPU... if it doesn't turn on still take out 1 stick of ram.. then switch.. etc.. IF it does turn on then start putting parts back in 1 at a time starting from the first you took out.. if it doesn't turn on .. then take your cpu out of the mobo to check for damage.. if its fine then get a new mobo and try your old parts.. if it doesn't work then get a new cpu... etc. etc.
