I have never built a pc before, and I am wondering if I could build a pc using this graphics card for under a total of 1500$.
Would like to purchase all my parts from amazon.ca and or bestbuy.ca or futureshop.ca only.

Gpu: http://www.amazon.ca/EVGA-GTX980-Superclocked-256bit-Graphics/dp/B00NT9UT3M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1423533403&sr=8-1&keywords=gtx+980

and probably this computer case, not even sure if its compatible: http://www.amazon.ca/Zalman-Plus-Performance-Tower-Black/dp/B00AC8AF4G/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1423534064&sr=8-10&keywords=computer+case

Can anyone help me out?

Going to go ahead and say thats not likely in Canada due to tax and shipping costs. At least, not with any sort of good CPU/Mobo. Your graphics card shouldn't be half your budget. It should be, at max, around a third of it.

In theory, yes. It is possible to get that graphics card at that budget, but you're going to be lacking other parts either in quality or performance. Bare minimum for Canada for a 980 I'd say is probably $1800, especially if you're going to limit yourself to only two or three vendors.

$1602 with tax. Add more for shipping. You can deduct some from the total because of Mail-in Rebates, but those don't detract from the tax you have to pay up front. Not to mention that it isn't from your three specified vendors because BB.ca and FutureShop aren't even on PCPartPicker. So I guess you aren't THAT far off, but you do need to up your budget a little bit. If you want an SSD, you're going to have to add another $100+ or so. Plus, there are better cases out there.

you could just get the 970, for like $400 instead, for slightly less perf.
$200 on elsewhere is much better

There's nothing exceptionally wrong with it, but there are just better cases, especially at that price from Amazon. If you like the way it looks, get it.

As for an SSD, it makes your computer boot and turn off faster. It also makes any program installed on it load much faster, nearly eliminating loading screens and such.

Oh I see that's cool, thanks for telling me. Is the SSD in the parts list? what would be a better case for same price?
