Game is, not the Age of Empires 2 HD remake, but the original AoE 2 that was made for win xp.
Lets say there were a mod that allowed 10,000 units per team. After about 5,000 units the game starts to lag. What's the problem?

this was on a laptop specs were roughly:
cpu is old intel core 2 duo from 2007 @ ≈ 2.2Ghz
gfx card is NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M
memory is 2GB @ ≤ 800 mhz
SSD hard drive

Laptop rekt cuz spilt coffee but want to replace with budget desktop that can handle a ungodly-ton of objects. For example Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 with 7,000 guests + lots of buildings & lots of rides on a 24" widescreen monitor. When I keep the resolution down it runs fine but when I zoom out it slows down.

ss below is considered a "small" 2D theme park in rct2. A "large" would bog my system down to 2-3 fps.

Do I get a GTX 750 or would a water cooled AMD A10-6800K 4.1GHz Quad core do the trick?
Have changed out a bad cpu, gfx & memory but am a first time builder for the most part
& not sure how to pick parts. Could use help with a build.
What mobo, memory, power suppy ect to go with?
Trying to keep it $350-$500 US

CPU is to blame. I'll edit with a build.

$366 with rebates

Can change the SSD to a 1tb mechanical drive if you'd like, I'd also recommend a 3rd party cooler, though you don't absolutely need it.

E: Or this for $17 over budget (after MIR) http://pcpartpicker.com/p/JpWrnQ

Get a GTX 660 instead (better gaming benchmarks) then spend a couple dollars more and get a new cooler.
