Hey guys, I bought this gigabyte motherboard GA-F2A88XN-WIFI and a kaveri chip to play games and movies and whatnot, unfortunately the motherboard was manufactured before the kaveri chip was released. According to all the reviews I've seen it will support this chip as long as the bios is updated.

I managed to locate a chip that will work for cheap, however it has no discrete GPU whatsoever. It's an amd x2 340x processor.

Can I flash the motherboard with just this? Any reason why this wouldn't work?
Thanks, Patton.

GA-F2A88XN-WIFI - mobo
AMD A10 - 7850k

The motherboard and chip I have are incompatible despite Gigabyte claiming that they had updated the bios chip in the newer motherboards. AFAIK they are offloading their inventory so it's a crapshoot whether it works or not.

So the cpu I just bought off amazon is the "amd athlon x2 340x", and it says "socket fm2, requires discrete gpu" right on the box.

Buy a crap vid card or borrow one from friend.

I just read your manual, can't flash w/o be able to see the screen. :/

Well this would have been good information to have.
I'm gonna hit up a bunch of computer stores and see if I can 'rent' a shitty ass card.
Thanks man.

Prolly cheaper just to buy one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102882

OR, if you plan to add a serious one to cross fire or w/e they call it...just get one now.

What kind of serious graphics card should I be looking for to crossfire with a 7850k?

Next step for the little htpc/desktop was to get a decent graphics card to make it a steam box for tf2. I've been sitting on some money lately so could probably get it.
