You don't need a R9 285 for those games. If you want to save money, you can drop a few series. Otherwise, it's a decent budget build. FYI, it is not recommended to overclock on that motherboard if you ever want to consider it in the future. Poor thermal design.

It fits fine in your budget and if you ever decide to play a game you have the power to play it. R9 280 would be as far back as I'd go for a main rig

You'd be saving ~ 40$ but losing a good chunk of performance...

R9 285 averages 10-15 fps higher in Metro last light, 20-25 fps higher in bioshock infinite, 5-10 fps higher in bf4, ~10 fps higher in crysis 3, 10-15 in thief, etc. etc.... The 285 is also quieter by about 6-10 dba under load, it's also cooler by an average of about 10 degrees celsius under load, it does take a bit more power under load but at idle it takes a small amount less...

It's not worth it to downgrade with the current prices... but i'd consider the 960 now that it's actually released..

625.91$ before taxes if you get the mobo and cpu from microcenter.. however a lot of games now support mantle... so amd might be the way to go but it is an older model gpu... the 960 is much quieter and takes a lot less power and it's newer tech..
