bump in 2-3 days cos the prices on parts change often, so any build made now, won't be helpful when he actually plans to purchase later.
also he will just be gaming? not much multitasking/ streaming etc?

Something similar to this should do fine, who knows what sales will be like next week though.

My 2 cents

I prefer the 760k/860k over the g3258 because of the quad core vs dual core.. I have a build almost identical to this sitting on my workbench waiting for my busy ass to finish it's briefcase case... and i use to when i'm there often.. it's amazing especially at sub 1080p gaming.. 720p gaming this build is beast as fuck tbh

Yeah but isn't it not a true quad core? I thought the 760k and 860k were 2(2) cpus.

Not sure I think it has 2 modules with 2 processing cores in each... not positive.. either way it does help... you can't even play fc4 on the g3258 but you can on the 860k and 760k

Pretty sure there was a dual-core fix last month. Watchdogs was also a quad-core only title but there was a fix for that as well.

Yeah but do you want to buy a computer where you have to wait for them to patch a game for your hardware so you will be able to play... if you can get a quad core build on a budget.. might as well go for it since their performance is similar and the 860k

They both OC well.. the 860k is better at all cores.. and as usual the intel cpu si better at single core processes...

It depends on what you want though.. either perform well.. i'd just prefer the 4 core vs the 2 at this point in the technology tree.
