Maybe something along the lines of this? This brings it to around $700, leaving you to decide what you want for your case and if you want an aftermarket cooler.
I would say the CPU/MOBO are pretty basic, i5 gives you a lot of room to work with things.
1x 8GB stick of RAM to allow for future expansions. If you buy 2x 4GB you would only be able to add 2x 4GB ones or have to replace them entirely.
Video card is a bit beefy, but it'll futureproof you for the $300 price range. If you don't want to spend that much, maybe switch to a GTX 760 or 770, or even try AMD.

If you still need HDDs/SSDs though, I would say maybe downgrade the CPU or GPU, not a whole lot of wiggle room elsewhere.

Should be close to your top budget after tax. If 800 is your before tax budget, get an 8320 instead of 6300.

Some pretty shitty pieces of hardware you chose there. That thing wont handle games and media for more than 6 months before it bogs down.

Theres really nothing wrong with what I posted for his budget. If you're referring to the GPU, its XFX. It has a lifetime warranty. The CPU will handle games fine and he can overclock it later when more demanding games come out.

For the ram, 8gb is plenty for games and multimedia. Are you one of those people who thinks you need 16gb to play games? Also, dual channel gives a 10-15% performance boost over a single stick.

The power supply is a bit cheap, but for the budget it isnt terrible. Its also the same quality of PSU as the one you recommended.

Not to mention, you didnt have a case in your build. You also gave him a 2 generation old i5 with a z75 board when you can get a z77 for like $10 more. Now, im not saying the i5 is bad because its old. Its just not worth paying for when you can get a 4690k for the same price.

Anything I missed or are you going to spew more random nonsense?
