should i have to press down to lock the lever back in place?i tried a few times but i didn't want press too hard so its not locking.
talking about the little metal arm to put it in place
pushed it down a few times and the sides of the cpu are kinda dented?

AMD or Intel...and did you make sure the little gold triangle on corner of CPU lines up with the little triangle on the CPU socket.

On Intel I believe...motherboards ship with a plastic plate over the CPU socket, which much be removed, before the latching commences.

Yeah the little metal arm, that looks like a paper clip, will require some force to get the cover seated properly. Just make sure the CPU is socketed correctly first before applying the pressure.

Check LinusTechTips build videos for a visual representation if you're unsure.

Both AMD and Intel have little metal arms. The worst you've done is assume he's put it on correctly and not bent any pins or misaligned the chip.

I don't know if you know how to fucking read but I told him to check to make sure the CPU is socketed properly first.

Yes the both have lock arms, but many AMD boards DON"T have the plastic socket protector, under the locking plate that Intel does.
