Im currently playing on a 19 inch monitor... i know its old school.

im trying to upgrade to either a 24 or a 27. any recommendation is 27 too big? should i get a 24?

depends on the resolution and how far you will be sitting from the monitor. 1080p is mainstream right now. imo, 24' is the optimal size. 27' can work if you prefer a slightly larger screen.
