I ordered 2x4g sticks to add on/replace my 2x2gb sticks

both are the exact same type/brand gskill ripjaw 12800 cl9 9-9-9-24-2 1600hz

would it be better to run just the 8gb? or put all 4 in

asrock 970 extreme 4 mobo

You won't see any noticeable performance gain with 12GB over 8GB. Just stay with 8. Sell the 2x2 pack imo

Ty, will probably run a few benchmarks to see what is better, but I know I will have a lot more heating problems with all 4 sticks

The heat is negligible if you have decent cable management and a decent computer case.

Corsair carbide 200r case and good management, although I only heard you need to worry about heat if your overclocking the ram

ram really doesnt produce that much heat

more sticks just can mean harder to overclock and/or limiting your overclock
