Probably looking to pay spend about 500+ Tax could go a little more if it's a far greater value.

Games i play on pc:
D3
Starcraft 2
WoW
Hearthstone
Civ 5
Cs:go
These games are not high intensity i know but i want this computer to be viable for at least a few years. (mind you i'm not someone who needs all settings ultra)

Don't Need monitor or keyboard/mouse in the mix and am capable of building myself. I have built before but am Very out of touch with what is out there atm.

Had my current pc for 8+ Years, replaced the PSU, graphics and a harddrive when it failed.

I have a 120gb SSD that i would install so the rest of my memory can be either external or Hdd as it will just be movies/ music.

Wondering what people would suggest im looking at prebuilts atm but everything seems to come with either shit graphics or a PSU thats too small.

Not looking for someone to make me an entire build (though it would be nice) even a link to a good value prebuilt would be appreciated.

If you are helpful I may tip (though im on a broke stream in my hockey bets :P).

Not in a rush to purchase this old computer is still viable for now just beginning to consider/ budget for it.

I would suggest you avoid prebuilts. Other than that...

...post the info below on the day you plan to purchase. Prices, combo deals and availability, change on a daily if not hourly basis.

Budget:
More specific use (what games, what programs):
Planned time until purchase:
Do you need an Operating System?:
Do you have any specific preferred components?:
Do you need a sound or wireless card?:
Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?:
Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?:
Zip code/location? (Shipping costs):

Time Frame: I have the cash that i could purchase today, but the need is not immediate, Im probably looking to plan the outline of a build and then wait for deals to crop up on those or similar components, then building once i have gotten them all.

Use: School (Word, Powerpoint, excel) , Streaming, surfing and light gaming of the above mentioned games.

OS: No software needed i can get copies through work.

Specific Components: Not particularly, 5.1 sound would be nice but is not required.

Do you need a sound or wireless card?: Don't know much about dedicated vs integrated sound cards, what am i missing if i have a good headphone set and a integrated sound card? I do not do any audio production or editing, I do listen to music and enjoy good quality, i have good speaker and headphones and i play Counter strike so directional sound can be important.
Wireless card i can survive without.

Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?: Do not plan to over clock, I have never had a liquid cooling system, i guess thats something i could use advice on, i've never had a problem with fan cooling, i had a graphics card over heat once but that was due to its own fan failing not the case fans or over heating while the fan was working.

Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?: No to all three, although if there are crazy package deal's im not opposed.

Zip code/location? (Shipping costs): K9H L8p, Ontario Canada

Sorry i should have said that earlier!

P.S. Thanks!

This has become the best way to both make a build and find the lowest prices: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/

For more info on any part you may be considering, I'd recommend Newegg.com (US), as they have very good specs sheets, as well as compatibility info.

This build above, will work fine, last a long time and run all those games. If your budget permits, I would recommend a GTX 970 vid card as you won't need to replace it for a LOOOOOOOONG time.

Thanks man! that site will definitely be very helpful!

Looking at the sample comp you either posted or made it's a little out of my range.

Even using this site i am left with questions like what kind of processor do i need, I have a intel core 2 quad Q6600 atm (2.4ghz quad core) Going to 8 cores seems extreme, Is my q66 still viable in a new system?

What is your response to my sound card inquiry? if Im using to for only music listening and gaming do i need a sound card or is integrated fine?

Thanks again, probably soend my whole day at work playing around on this site :P

Like so.... http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/qMhrP6 <<< SSD removed.

Right now the GTX 970 is the best price/performance card you can get.

Noticed you went for EVGA for the card manufacturer and i could save 50 getting it fro gigabyte, I take it i should go for the more expensive/ trusted brand? better part warranty or something?
e/

Found the card 20$ Cheaper so Maybe with some deal hunting i can make this build work.

Also
Western Digital WD10EZEX Caviar Blue 3.5" 7200RPM 1TB 64MB $0.061 (1306) $60.98

VS

Western Digital WD1003FZEX BLACK SERIES 3.5" 7200RPM 1TB 64MB $0.080 (164) $79.98

What is 20$ better that i am not seeing if anything?

e// Could i cheap out on the case or would i find my comp gets very clostrophobic/ hard to expand?
Do i need Fans on top of the dedicated card, heat sink and basic case fans. (do i need to fill its fan expansion slots?)

EVGA vid cards have the best tech support on the planet. Just register the card at their site, and save the card's serial in a text file somewhere...and you are then able to get Premium Tech Support 24/7....and they all know wtf they are talking about and speak perfect English as a 1st language.

I own These EVGA cards....

EVGA 03G-P4-2883-KR GeForce GTX 780 Ti Superclocked 3GB 384-bit GDDR5

EVGA 06G-P4-2791-KR GeForce GTX TITAN 6GB 384 bit GDDR5

EVGA 04G-P4-3687-KR GeForce GTX 680 FTW+ w/Backplate 4GB

EVGA 015-P3-1580-AR GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) 1536MB 384-bit

EVGA 01G-P3-1280-AR GeForce GTX 280 1GB 512-bit GDDR3

....and 4 more EVGA ....AGP cards. :)

/e The Blacks have a longer warranty and seem to hold up forever. I also own about 10 WD Blacks, and 3 WD Velociraptors. Best part about WD (any color) is WD happily does Advanced RMA, IF you ever have a problem. They send the replacement...then you send in the dead or dying one.

Thanks a bunch man it's my lunch so im off for now but ill be deal hunting for alot of this parts after that!

I was going to drop to 500gb but you hardly save anything when you consider that you loose half the space but only 1/4 of the price.

Anything i am missing in this build? like for example the sound card question or is the integrated advanced enough that you don't need to worry for my purposes?

Once again thanks alot! wasn't expecting so much help so quickly!

The onboard sound is fine these days....and stay with the 1TB drive...the 500GB drives don't seem to hold up as well.
