Things I'm really after

I want a sturdyish laptop with a comfortable keyboard. << preference, not a necessity
A screen that isn't too small (12" - 18")<< Strong preference, between 12-18 is necessity
A good degree of brightness. -- seen some have shitty reviews for this
Battery life isn't a big issue as long as it's 2+ (spare battery is always an easy option), but the longer the better.
The light up keyboard is a gg extra too.
A good degree of sound quality is always a bonus.
And I'm not sure on the technical stuff, but I want enough RAM and a decent enough processor to run student programs such as PP, & Word etc. - having them alrdy installed is a bonus, but no hassle to install as long as they come free.
I want the performance of my laptop to be better than my last, because my last one would freeze up / lag if it was streaming or doing simple tasks.
I will want to stream the odd movie.
A hdmi port + USB ports are gg too

$300ish to spend

Chromebooks
Samsung Chromebook 2
and even a windows 8 tabllet with a keyboard

.. Can some tech-savvy people point me in the right direction out of those options and any better options, within my needs

Any laptop will run ms word pp so go and get any sub 300 laptpp

There was a laptop for 270 w/ ms products alrdy on it

Ive got 300ish for the best laptop i can get. I got a 'sub 300 laptop' and it's absolutely fuking shit
- ontop of that, someone said NEVER get a chromebook... yet they have been recommended by some others.

So I'd appreciate some help
