The current laptop I have for college is breaking down and I'm worried it crash during the semester when I really need it. I am going to need it to last me for at least four years with proper care.

The reason I bring this question to d2jsp instead of just looking at Walmart...etc is because I haven't kept up with technology since I bought my laptop about 5 years ago. I was looking for suggestions for just something that will....
-last for for 4+ years
-able to run Microsoft word
-portable as in easy to take to class or to library
-at least a 5 hour battery life
-under $300

Something I've been intrigued about is the tablets that come with a keyboard. I'm scared to get one though because I don't really understand what they are capable of. Maybe some one could give me some insight on if they are capable of fittin my list credentials. Thanks in advance to anyone has any insight!

Lasting 4+ year and under $300 probably wont happen.
Probably your best bet would be a Nexus 7/9 tablet.

The best would be to invest in a Microsoft surface pro 3 :)

ultra light weight
great hardware
great price for quality

It won't disappoint you, but it's outside your pricerange, but will be your very best partner for college :)

Its the one that first caught my eye. My budget is pretty firm unfortunately.

By the way.. I made a new thread in the other forum because I thought it fit in better there. Please feel free to let this one die and post in the other.
