This is the link to the second configuration I came up with. If you look a few topics down you can see where I started off wanted a 5820k and over the top mobo.
With all the input a got and further research in the developping pcu (specially skylake needing new socket + more or less making ddr4 standard) I decided to go with a lesser build.
Now I have come up with this... I looked 1000 benchmarks and reviews and all..

The mobo should be one of the best in its pricerange, and the top I5 will do
Seeing its not a huge build I just went with a Scythe Mugen4 Aircooler for the PSU...
Still sticking to the GTX970, dont really see an alternative here

Questions I have:

1. Is my 550 W PSU going to be enough? picked a modular one for the ease and one with decent certificate.
2. Memory gonna be DD3 obviously... Do I want standard 1600 Mhz or will I benefit from Added 2400 MHz DDR3? The prices dont change that much inbetween so thats why im asking.. Like 32 gb 1600 gets beaten by 16 gb 2400...
But I dont know if this current setup can make use if it...
3 Would I take a slightly cheaper SSD? I mean im already cutting down hard on cpu and mobo and what not.. I could save like 50$ If I go with an older samsung pro or even evo...

What you guys think?

/e I see they removed the permlink lol lame

I5 4690k
Scythe Mugen 4 PCGH
Z97 Asrock Extreme 6
Nvidia Geforce GTX970 MSI gaming
CoolerMaster V550 Semi-Modular
Samsung PRO 150 SSD 256 GB
DVD Burner random 20$

1066 €
no case, no memory selected yet, rest should be fine

Would be 1200 € total if I added 2*4 GB DDR Corsair Platinum Pro 2400 MHz
/E and would be like 20 € less If I went with the 1600 MHZ who does have somewhat lower CL

You'll be fine with an 840 Evo as the SSD. You can also drop to the Extreme 4 motherboard if its significantly less expensive.

550w will be fine for a single gpu.

Finally, you wont notice much of a difference, if any, by going with faster RAM just gaming. Games arent really memory intensive, so you wont really benefit beyond 1600 MHz.

That's not true.
It's not in English, but results are just numbers (fps)

If budget allows it, I'd go for 1866MHz sticks.

Between CL7 1600MHz RAM and CL8 1866MHz RAM, you gain at minimum 0.8 FPS and at maximum 2 FPS just based on your link from Watch Dogs alone. If you add MSAA to the mix, it goes to a 2.4 to 3 FPS jump.

Am I wrong, or did you just prove my point for me? Even the jump from CL 7 1600 to CL 10 2400 is 8 fps at best. You aren't going to notice 8 fps if you're already above 60 fps. If you're playing an FPS game on a 144 Hz panel and need that 8 FPS to stay above 144, sure, but other than that, it isn't really necessary.

I'm not saying don't buy it if its the same price, but the performance increase, again based on the article you linked, isn't going to be very noticeable.

Well I was compairing the 1600Mhz vs the 2400Mhz ones and I dont understand the text in the link provided but it looked like none was >60 so the better RAM seems to be a better/safer option
Made it simple and just checked: 2x4 DDR3 1600Mhz 7 CL 139 eur || 2400Mhz 11CL 133 euro.
Seems like buying the 2400 version wont hurt then? its even cheaper luls

Yeah the 840 EVO already was in my crosshairs  Ill go with that one.. Saves me 45 euro..
Thanks for clearing up the psu question. Gonna keep that one then, good label and efficiency + modular

As for the motherboard, the extreme 4 is 50 € cheaper however if I keep the extreme 6 im entitled to a 30 € cashback in combo with my processor so this isnt worth it imo.

Thanks all for the input

formula for finding out which kit would be more responsive. CAS latency divided by frequency times 2000 gives the response time in nanoseconds.

7/1600 x 2000 = 8.75 nano seconds
11/2400 x 2000 = 9.17 nano seconds

So cas 7 response time is faster, even tho u won't notice the difference irl, but hey if it's 6 bux more w.e

U can even oc it a bit to 1866 too

I'd go with CL11 ones. You can probably easily set them at CL9 2133MHz.
And yeah, 840 Evo is quite good one, got one myself in notebook.

You can't guarantee they will, unless it's higher end and proven ram (with OC'able chips)
