My brother is wanting to upgrade the video card in his computer, I told him to get the one I just bought (msi gtx 970) But I guess he only has about 200-230 bucks for it. Anyone have an idea what the best gpu for him to get for this price?
He will be buying it by Friday

There are a lot in the price range, what makes it the best one for the price. Sorry for all the questions. Just want to make sure he doesn't have to buy another card in 6 months..

Sapphire is a good manufacturer for AMD cards. Also, the 280x is better than the 760 which is in the same price range. For that price (at the moment), you'll have trouble finding a better card. If you had looked two weeks ago, you could have gotten a 290 for the same price.

he better have a beefy PSU and good cooling for the R9 290. but yes, it's a great performer. if you go with the 280x though, it's also a good performer and at that price you have 3GB vRAM, so he can load up on texture packs n shit ( for games like crysis 2/3, skyrim, w/e else you can do it on ). and anytime i use an AMD card, i try and get one from Sapphire.

The 760 uses less power and is better for screen resolution. The R9 290x is faster though if you are looking for better frame rates. I compared the two on hwcompare.
