Here is my motherboard:
CPU:

I'm noticing when I play some higher end games, my processor is getting pretty hot and the fan is getting super loud. I was thinking of upgrading my CPU but I'm unsure on how to know if they are compatible or not. Could anyone help me? and give any recommendations aswell? Money is no concern really

What graphics card do you have? Is there a proper flow of air in your pc case? Have you cleaned it out of dust? Maybe it's time to change the thermal compoun on cpu.
IMO i7-2600 is still a very capable cpu given it's 4C/8T. I wouldn't change it unless you have a very powerful sli/crossfire tandem and have lots of money to waste.

yea i've already cleaned it out, my gpu is a geforce gtx 760, i got that like a year ago

my other question is that my motherboard is a 32nm, am I able to put 22nm cpus in my mobo? I looked up my mother board on here : http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support.aspx and it shows the ones that are compatible, but I'm not sure

that's a very good cpu.. if anything, just get a evo 212 cooler, instead of using the stock.
However, gateway mobo? assuming it's a prebuilt? meaning their case is shit.. psu is shit.. can't oc it or anything.. would need speccy screenshot to give you the best advice..

tho do you know what power supply and case you are using??

the only thing I changed was my video card to a geforce gtx 760,
the original one was a older Intel one, I forget what it was exactly

alright, I'll try just redoing the paste and getting a new fan. thanks for the help.
one other question, In the link above that shows the cpu - mobo compatibility it shows both 22nm and 32nm cpus. will they both fit in the same motherboard?

The Cooler master Hyper 212 EVO is 6.2 inches tall, from the top of the CPU to the interior side of the left case panel....or 160mm if non U.S.

/e ...and you definitely do NOT want to upgrade a 2600 or 2600K, w/e you have. They were/are Intel golden CPU's, probably still the best CPU Intel ever made.

yeah the evo 212 is pretty much a universal cooler. So it'll work on almost all CPU/mobo sockets except ancient ones.

also you don't have to redo the paste, if you are getting the 212 evo to replace ur old stock cooler, cos it's already applied on it. Just make sure to remove the old paste on top of your CPU before you put the evo 212 on it.
