my gtx 970 just arrived and i have plugged in all the cords but my device manager is still reading the
integrated graphics from my cpu! please help me, if i try to plug my monitor into the gpu, i do not get any signal

Sounds like it isnt in the slot all the way.

i tried taking it out and putting the card back in many times now..no luck :(

try differnt ports on the gpu

you should get a signal eventually

if not then connect via your mobo and install drivers and you should be able to connect to your gpu after you do that

Have you tried setting it to dedicated graphics in bios?

Also I had same issue earlier this year with z97 board and 580. I would only detect it in the PCI x8 slot and I got a refund. Ended up getting a Z87 model that worked just fine.

Uninstall your old gpu drivers completely,
Then install your 970 driver?

Triple-check the power cords are plugged into your GPU, re-seat the GPU if necessary.

Also, if you haven't done it already, uninstall old GPU drivers

all the pieces were brand new except my psu
anyways i finally got pissed enough to take it to a local pc shop and they told me it is a defective gpu
i just plugged in my old radeon hd 6850 and it is working fine on this new rig

Yeah, rma it. Sucks, but it happens.
Did they reseat the gpu, and re-plug the 2 pci-e cords from the psu?
Which driver did you dl?

Did they try the other gpu slot?

ah man that blows, from all the parts in the pc ive had the most issues with gpu's.. Last time i bought one it died literally after 3 days, thank god i bought it from best buy tho they exchange / refund within 30 days no questions asked
