I'm starting my own law firm and need a new desktop for work. I need to be able to draft motions and briefs in word, deal with PDF files and decent network capabilities and researching the internet.
Budget: as low as reasonable. Would like to keep it under $500 if possible but can stretch budget if needed.
More specific use (what games, what programs): this will not be used for games. Mostly Microsoft word, internet and PDF files.
Planned time until purchase: next two weeks
Do you need an Operating System?: yes
Do you have any specific preferred components?: decent quality, stuff that likely won't catch fire
Do you need a sound or wireless card?: wireless card, I will occasionally be listening to police recordings or 911 audio but don't need anythig fancy.
Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?: overclock will not be done or necessary
Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?: yes to all three
Zip code/location? (Shipping costs): Mesa, AZ

does it need to be microsoft word? libre office / open office is free and can do similar things, and they're free. afaik it even saves in .docx extensions. you can save a fair bit by going linux with it.
needing a monitor + os really pushes the budget for making them yourself.

No way. Long time no see Bret. Congrats on starting up a law firm man, that's serious stuff!
I'll try to put something together for you once I'm at a computer, but it's best to wait to ask for a build until you're buying within 1-3 days since sales can change dramatically in a couple days.

Probably easier/cheaper to just buy pre-built. But then again,
I don't know what I'm talking about.

I was posting now because if there was great deals on Black Friday/Cyber Monday, I wanted to take advantage.
