I built it decently for the amount spent. It can run RIFT at fully maxed settings at around 40 frames a second under full raid/rift event load, which is all you need. cuz you cant physically notice anything faster then that anyways so theres no point in overbuilding it for more fps...

--basic components--
Asus EVO extreme full atx mobo
2x 4gig ddr3 2000fsb ram chips
rasetsu heatsink/fan
haf x case
amd 3Ghz quad core processor (OC to 3.785ghz)
dual (crossfire) HIS radeon 4670 1gig ICEQ ddr3graphics cards (both cards are OC)
added additional 200mm fan to the top of the case
lightscribe 48x dvdr / burner drive
WD 160gb hard drive, no need for more cuz the comp is only for game data, movies and music are stored on my external for my pc and ps3.
raid 630W PSU

running maxed gfx on rift, smooth as butter, GFX cards peak at 42-45C, and peak processor core temps are at 19-20C

new haf x case next to my old gateway case

I find your OC bad, and your 4670's bad. Otherwise, meh.

cuz this way whenever i want to upgrade, ill never need a new case ever, there is nothing that wnt fit in the case lol

i built it to run rift n max settings under full load at perfect smooth framerate for the least amount of money, and i think i successfully did it.

if i want a supercomputer to play on, ill just get on my ps3, but seems how RIFT isnt on ps3, i needed to build somthing better then my single core 3.0ghz / single 6500 nvidia graphics / 3 gig ddr2 ram gateway lol :P

cuz they were 64$ each with free shipping, low power, high output (780 core clock / 800+ memory clock / 320 stream prcessors)

i have them both OC to 800 core clock and 850 memory clock and the stay cold and run perfect.. not bad for 64$ rofl..

as for processor its just a 3.0ghz athlon x4, i read if u got good cooling you can OC to match the power of and i7 960, so it did just that and the core temps only went up from 17c to 20c rofl... i can prbabaly crank it alot more if i wanted to... not bad for a 100$ vs the assload a i7960 costs..

i DO prefer intel and nvidia over amd/ati.. but the massive price difference made me give it a shot for the first time, and so far im glad i made the switch. been running this setup for about 2 weeks without a single issue and not even the slightest hint of lag at anytime...

compared to the one-light-candle-xbox, it is.

but that one-sided argument is for a different subforum

that and yur talking about 5 year old closed platform vs open platform (pc building)
